Advantages of Lightweight Strollers and Stroller Safety Tips

Advantages-of-Lightweight-Strollers-and-Stroller-Safety-Tips
Style often outweighs function in baby products, and this is most especially true for new parents. Every loving mother and father wants the best for their child, but prioritizing aesthetics could risk safety. Therefore, instead of choosing between a Star Wars stroller and one similar to North West’s, think of getting one that accords to your family size, location, and lifestyle. Among all the safety tips enumerated in this article, this is probably the most important.
Naturally, not one type of stroller will fit all, but keeping lightweight strollers around is necessary. After all, events requiring the use of compact baby equipment will eventually come, and you need to be prepared.
  • It’s compact and, as the name suggests, lightweight. If traveling (by bus, subway, plane, and even by car) is part of the family’s weekly or monthly routine, then these umbrella strollers will make everyone’s life a lot easier. Imagine all the baby stuff that needs to be taken along with the stroller wherever the baby goes. And now imagine trying to lift all that up the bus, or even a low gutter. You never know what the outside world has in store, so it’s best to keep things simple and practical with these lightweight baby carriages.
  • It’s easy to store and setup. First off, a majority of airlines allow umbrella strollers to be stowed in overhead compartments. And in case you’re not the type who travels a lot, think of all the space saved at home by not having large baby equipment uselessly sitting in a corner. Stow it in the cupboard or in your closet when not in use, and set it up in less than two minutes when you need it. There would also be no need to invest in a bigger car just to accommodate the baby’s stuff.
  • Maneuvering in crowded places is never a problem. More than once, you’d have to take the baby through crowded sidewalks and densely populated malls. With bulky strollers, your baby would just be as bad a problem as finding a sitter. Instead of smoothly finishing all your tasks and chores for the day, you would be hindered. Luckily, there are lightweight strollers to cut the stress of having to bring a baby along.
Despite the ease provided by umbrella strollers, it still carry a few disadvantages. Depending on the brand, it’s often less sturdier than its bulkier versions. Should the baby be too old and heavy for the stroller, he or she is more at risk of encountering accidents. This does not mean, however, you should buy a new one. What you need to do is follow these simple safety tips to make sure your little angel gets to enjoy more birthdays:
  • Check for broken parts. Before buckling your baby up, inspect the moving parts of the stroller especially the wheels and handles. If you hear any unfamiliar squeaking or feel wobbles, don’t risk using it until it has been repaired.
  • Keep your baby at a safe distance as you unfold the stroller. You don’t want to accidentally pinch their fingers as you snap parts open. And before securing the baby in it, make sure every moving part isn’t moving. Roll it a few times empty to make sure everything is locked in place.
  • Avoid hanging bags on the stroller. Lightweight strollers will tip if the bag is too heavy even if you have your baby’s weight to balance it. You either carry it on your shoulders or lessen the load.
  • Buckle your baby up. Even if it’s just a harmless walk around the suburbs, never risk not buckling your child. Should the stroller tip, your baby won’t at least hit the road or pavement head on.
  • Never put full trust on the stroller’s brakes. Always expect the worst when with your baby. So even if the manufacturing company says their brakes are 100% reliable, don’t. Keep the stroller close by at all times so you could easily grab it should it begin to magically roll away.
Even if you’re not using lightweight strollers, make sure to follow these tips. These are general safety precautions that should be religiously adhered to by every loving parent. Besides, your child is priceless, and should never be gambled with the guarantees and promises used by manufacturing companies to sell.
